De la préposition à la particule verbale : l'exemple de "AUF"

A theoretical approach to the notion of significate and to existing models for the analysis of prepositions argues for a polysemous reading of auf as preposition or particle. Our study demonstrates the inadequacy of both the localist model and the theory of preposition bleaching, arguing that both the spatial interpretation and the bleaching phenomenon can be accounted for by the syntactic function and the semantic environment of the preposition-particle. Spatial and abstract uses can be dealt with homogeneously within the theoretical frameworks of incidence (G. Guillaume, G. Moignet, J. Cervoni) and inference (P. Cadiot), which disproves the theory of Aktionsart as applied to verbal particles. This leads us to conclude to a semantic continuity between preposition and particle, which ties in with the Guillaumian model of potential significate, while highlighting its complementarity to the theories of categorisation.Une réflexion théorique sur la notion de signifié et les modèles d'analyse des prépositions nous fait opter pour une lecture polysémique de auf préposition-particule. En étudiant de manière exhaustive ses représentés, nous démontrons que ni la thèse localiste, ni celle des prépositions incolores ne sont tenables, et que le caractère spatial ou peu coloré des représentés provient de la fonction syntaxique et de l'environnement sémantique de la préposition-particule. Les théories de l'incidence (G. Guillaume, G. Moignet, J. Cervoni) et de l'inférence (P. Cadiot), nous permettent de traiter les emplois spatiaux et abstraits d'une manière homogène, ce qui revient dans le cas de la particule verbale à réfuter la théorie de l'Aktionsart. Nous concluons par le constat d'une continuité sémantique entre la préposition et la particule et inscrivons nos résultats dans le modèle guillaumien du signifié de puissance, dont nous soulignons la complémentarité avec les théories de la catégorisation
